Teriyaki Hawaii is a no-frills Hawaiian and Japanese restaurant tucked into a modest strip mall spot in Gardena, serving up plate lunches and comfort food that locals return for again and again. It’s the kind of place where you’re likely to find hearty portions of familiar island favorites like chicken and beef teriyaki, loco moco, and kalua pork alongside Japanese staples like saimin and katsu plates. The menu is expansive, making it easy to mix and match combos like the BBQ beef and chicken katsu or kalua and kalbi plates, all at wallet-friendly prices.

The atmosphere inside is simple and unpretentious—more about feeding hungry diners than dining out in style. For many, it’s a grab-and-go spot with fast, polite service. Because dishes are cooked fresh to order, calling ahead is often advised if you’re in a rush. Expect your food to come piping hot and generously portioned, often with sides like macaroni potato salad, spam musubi, or even chili fries for a little extra kick.

The vibe fits well with Gardena’s diverse neighborhood—friendly and straightforward with a focus on authentic flavors rather than decor. It’s a spot where Hawaiian locals and fans of island cuisine gather for a quick lunch or early dinner, especially during weekday afternoons when the lunch combos are most popular. If you appreciate genuine Hawaiian plate lunches without the tourist gloss, Teriyaki Hawaii offers solid, familiar food that feels like a taste of home.

Food is delicious. I ordered the spicy chicken bowl. For the price they are very generous with their portions. Service is fast. I recommend calling in for your order. As they cook it when you place it, it can take 20 minutes or more to cook. Atmosphere can be better, but if you're going for takeout, it doesn't matter.

5.0 & none below!!! Enjoy authentic Hawaiian cuisine for a ridiculously low price. This classic plate lunch style joint serves generous portions of flavor packed food; it's no wonder this place has been in business for the last 60 years. Locals from the islands will not be disappointed in the least. Choose from a variety of local dishes. The lau lau is proper, as it includes the pork belly and butterfish. The chicken katsu is off the chain, but a request for the curry katsu option is highly recommended. The loco moco stay garranz fo' quell any kanak attack (sooouuu-peh!). If you want to switch it up on the pupus at your next get-together or football/UFC night, pass on the Wing Stop and get a fat order of the Hawaiian wings instead. Get your grind on!

Hidden gem! Truly amazing mom-and-pop Hawaiian place. Owner is super friendly, and the food is some of the best Hawaiian I've had. Huge portions, too!

Came here by chance and it was a great experience, the prices are very reasonable, the service is great, the older gentleman was pleasant and pront, the food was plentiful and taste amazing, i had the chicken and beef combo which included a drink, also had the katsu plate. The teriyaki Chicken was well made and tasted delicious as well as the beef, the potato/macaroni salad was one of the best i had ever. The katsu chicken was well cooked and breaded to perfection. It was an overall great experience, highly recommend this restaurant.

Hawaiian chicken wings is where it’s at . Call in advance as they may take long to make but definitely worth the wait. Super fresh. The scent of the spices used aromatizes the air. So crispy and scrumptious, it’s hard to not want more. Tastes delicious fresh off the kitchen and even cold as left overs. Service was kind and friendly.

No frills mom and pop joint with generous and delicious portions. One of the best teriyaki spots in the South Bay.
